We here at Proper Clobber have taken a bit of heat in the last month or so, for not being more active with our posts. First off, thanks to all of our readers for their iron clad patience. I’ve been in the process of buying and renovating a house. Yes, yes, “exuses, excuses” you say.
Well on that note we are back with avengence. We’ve got lots of gear to talk about this week plus we’re coming to NYC tomorrow… all kinds of craziness.
To kick things off, hows about this “dark sand” harrington from beloved Brits, Lyle & Scott. In their own words, they havn’t really F’ed with the timeless design one bit. Instead, they focus their energy on ensuring all the enduring details of this jacket are done to perfection. Choosing a gingham lining as their finishing touch, this back vented, cuffed classic has enough of it’s own personality to warrent a purchase.
The Lyle and Scott harrington is part of the “vintage”collection.

Baracuta G46 Waxed Cotton Parka

Yeah it’s nice to be all cutting edge with these posts, trying to show you the latest clob. However sometimes we like to let you in on a good “last season” deal. Again “last season” in fashion terms really just means the season we’re currently in.

Right now for a mere £157.50 (that’s 30% off) you can have this spectacular parka from the legendary Baracuta. Easily one of this blogs fav labels, the G46 Ridley is a unique creation for the harrington based company.

It’s a waxed cotton affair with big, black, branded buttons. We think the pockets and pulls speak for themselves, but if you’re keeping notes, thats’ Frasier tarten for the lining.

A genius jacket at a remarkable price. Find it at Stuarts.

Clarks Desert Trooper Chukka

Looking for something a bit chunkier this fall? Not sure about us… but if YOU are, Clarks has something pretty rugged going on, in the form of these Desert Troopers. A basic leather desert boot, gets a lugged out sole and real macho name. Have we missed anything?

Dunderdon Fisherman Beanie

Made from 100% merino wool, these Dunderdon ‘Fisherman Beanies’ look as soft and cozy as they do tough. The sea fairing cap of last winter is in full effect again this year and Dunderdon makes a nice one in three colours.

Farah - The Oscar Berry
Here is a fun late summer joint from casual godfathers Farah. Straight out of Farah’s ‘Vintage’ collection, this breton striped affair features some rather striking elbow patches. I tiny little gold “F” on the chest gives The Oscar its due street cred. We still love Farah and we love this top.

Fred Perry 60th Anniversary Collection

Here come the tennis tops from the much anticipated Fred Perry 60th Anniversary collection. The usual FP details are true to form; very classic. The draw of course, are the commemorative years, ‘52 12’ neatly tucked under the laurel. As a side note, I love that West Ham’s claret and blue gets it’s due historic cred. It was West Ham fans after all, that originally suggested the tipped collar and cuffs to Fred Perry. True story.

Baracuta G23 Ramsey Khaki Raincoat

I think we write about the G23 Ramsey raincoat by Baracuta every damn year. Nevertheless, FW2012 is marked with a limited version of the 1966 classic. In khaki green, the lining comes courtesy of Brisbane Moss. Oh and that button down bit at the top? It’s called a “gun flap.” Killer.

Available in limited supply at Stuarts.

Oliver Spencer Pennington Grey Jacket

Admittedly, we don’t do a heck of a lot with sport coats and blazers. I don’t know, maybe it’s the season. Nevertheless, we absolutely love this amazing piece from Englishman, Oliver Spencer. A brilliant high breaking cut in 100% new wool. The buttons are wood and like all things cool there are little details to examine for hours. Nice and casual.

Quadrophenia Criterion Release
Wait, this hadn’t happened yet. Huh. Well in that case, this month Criterion will release their newly transferred and digitally revamped edition of Quadrophenia. The classic piece of mod cinema gets a full touch up, with an uncut version and 5.1 surround sound updates. (Obviously a film where the tunes kind of count for a lot.) The Who supervised the whole shebang.
Hey kids! Watch this movie. It’s where cult films come from.

Baracuta Blue Label Spring 2013 Pitti Uomo

The Pitti Uomo images are starting to pop up and the first look at the Baracuta ‘Blue Label’ 2013 line is an exiting one. All kinds of stuff to mention here.

Baracuta’s Blue Line is dropping some pretty daring pieces, like the all black “Black Watch” trench coat and the whole collection comes from the mind of former Beams Plus director Kenichi Kusano.

With gorgeous interpretations of the classic G4 and G9 jacket, this staple-label of British heritage, continues to stay well in the game and manages to never EVER take a back seat to any fast fashion. All these years and still raw as f**k. Watch for Baracuta’s Blue label next year.
